GDPR Policy & Privacy Statement

We are committed to meeting our data protection obligations in line with the Data Protection Act 2018 (DPA), which incorporates the agreed provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and sharing with you how we collect and use your data. This policy sets out our commitment to data protection and your rights and obligations in relation to personal data. This policy should be read in conjunction with our GDPR overview.

We have appointed Wendy Woodfine as our Data Protection Officer (DPO). The role of the DPO is to inform and advise us on our data protection obligations. They can be contacted at wendy@neweraburnley.co.uk. Questions about this policy or requests for further information should be directed to them in the first instance.

We share our reasons for processing your data, how we use such data, and the legal basis for processing in our privacy notices and will update information we hold promptly if you advise us that your information has changed or is inaccurate.

Privacy Statement

New Era is committed to ensuring that privacy is protected and believes in being clear about the data we collect, how we use it, and that you should have meaningful control over both. We are committed to transparency and, in line with GDPR data protection laws, empower you to make the best decisions about the information that you share with us to promote high standards in the handling of personal information and so protect your right to privacy.

Specifically, we may use the data:

  • For internal records
  • To improve the services which we provide
  • Contact you in response to a specific enquiry
  • Enable us to report to finance/governing organisations
  • Send you promotional emails about our services, training, and other things we think might be relevant to you

When you provide your details to us, you will have the option of opting into communications from us. If you have agreed that we can use your information, you can change your mind easily by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link in one of our emails or letting us know at info@neweraburnley.co.uk.

We will never lease, distribute, or sell your personal information to third parties unless we have your permission or the law requires us to. Any personal information we hold about you is stored and processed under our data protection policy.

What is GDPR?

The GDPR sets out the following seven key principles which lie at the heart of data protection:

  • Lawfulness, fairness and transparency
  • Purpose limitation
  • Data minimisation
  • Accuracy
  • Storage limitation
  • Integrity and confidentiality (security)
  • Accountability

Full definitions of these principles can be found at ICO GDPR Principles.

What are my individual rights concerning my personal data?

You have rights over how we use personal data held about you and you can exercise those rights by contacting our Data Protection Officer. In some cases, our ability to uphold these rights for you may depend upon our obligations to process personal data for legal reasons. Where this is the case, we will inform you of specific details in response to your request. The eight rights as given in the GDPR are as follows:

  • The right to be informed
  • The right of access
  • The right to rectification
  • The right to erasure
  • The right to restrict processing
  • The right to data portability
  • The right to object
  • Rights in relation to automated decision making and profiling
